The hotel is situated in the town’s Georgian Quarter and opposite the majestic St Mary’s Church, famous for a carving of a rabbit in 1335 which is said to have been the inspiration for the March Hare in Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland novel.
Originally, The Beverley Arms was a posting house where horses could be changed after their journey on the turnpike road between Beverley and Hull.
It would also have been an important meeting place where local farmers and businessmen would meet and conduct business. The most infamous highway robber Dick Turpin allegedly stayed at the Beverley Arms Hotel before appearing in front of the town magistrates in 1738.
More recently, no expense has been spared in restoring this former 18th century coaching inn to her former glory.
Since buying the property in 2016, Daniel Thwaites has spent more than £6 million in rebuilding and refurbishing the property, balancing the need to preserve historic parts with the desire to offer a modern experience.
Now with 38 beautiful bedrooms, a bar and restaurant serving up hearty meals to remember, and some brilliant outdoor spaces, The Beverley Arms re-opened in July 2018. We look forward to welcoming you through our doors.
